What is Stopping You from Training and Enjoying Life?

Work With Me

Does this sound like you?

You've been dealing with low-back pain that settles down, but returns every time you start squatting, deadlifting or training harder again.

Your shoulder feels better after treatment, but pressing, reaching overhead or increasing your training volume brings the same problem back.

You've been managing tendinopathy for months. You've rested, reduced your training and done your rehabilitation exercises — but you still don't know how to build back to the loads you actually want to tolerate.

You've recovered from an injury or surgery, completed your rehabilitation, but there's still a gap between being betterand being ready to train, compete or perform again.

Or perhaps you've been given a diagnosis, had scans, seen multiple practitioners and tried different treatments — but you're still looking for an explanation that makes sense and a clear way forward.

This is where I want to hear your story.

I don't want to see you as a diagnosis or a body part.

I want to understand what happened, what you've already tried, what helped, what didn't, how this is affecting you and, most importantly, what you want to get back to.

Because two people with the same diagnosis can have very different problems.

That's why I treat the person in front of me.

Your assessment looks at how you move, how you produce and control force, your strength, neurological function and how you respond when we change position, stability or load.

The goal is to identify what is limiting you and what we can actually change.

Sometimes that's strength.

Sometimes it's stability or movement control.

Sometimes it's how force is being produced or transferred.

Sometimes it's how load is being managed.

And sometimes the assessment tells us that another professional needs to be involved.

The intervention should follow the assessment — not the other way around.

My goal isn't to give you another generic list of exercises.

It's for you to understand what we're working on, why we're working on it and how it connects to the things you want to do.

Whether that's getting back under a barbell, running, returning to sport, getting back to work or simply having confidence in what your body can do —

your goal determines where we're going.

You are more than your diagnosis. Your story matters. Your goals matter.

Let's build a way forward.

My Story

I know what it's like to want answers — not just another appointment, treatment or surgery.

My path into this field began with my own injuries during my time in the Australian Army.

I experienced what it's like to experience debilitating low back and shoulder pain, go through treatment and rehabilitation, be given exercises, and still be left asking:

Why is this happening? Why am I moving differently? And what actually needs to change for me to move forward?

Those questions changed the direction of my career.

Since 2013, I've dedicated my work to understanding human movement, strength and performance — not simply whatexercise to prescribe, but why we're prescribing it.

My approach has been shaped by exceptional mentors.

  • For more than a decade, Dr Andrew Lock was my mentor, colleague and teacher.
  • This wasn't simply learning from courses. Andrew and I saw clients together every week, discussing cases, challenging our reasoning and exploring how neurology, biomechanics, strength and movement interact in the person in front of us.
  • I was also fortunate to be mentored for many years by Bruce Gray at Bodyworld, where we worked together in strength and conditioning, including with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL team. Bruce played an important role in developing the performance side of my thinking and coaching.
  • My approach has also been influenced by the work of Stuart McGill, Jill Cook and Robin McKenzie, alongside a deep interest in the history of human movement — from the foundations of neurophysiology and motor control through to modern biomechanics and exercise science.
  • I've also co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal publications, which has strengthened the way I critically evaluate research and translate evidence into practical decision-making.
  • I don't believe in pledging allegiance to one system or methodology.

The method should fit the person — not the person to the method.

Experience from rehabilitation to elite performance.

Over my career, I've worked with everyday people through to some of the strongest athletes in the world.

My experience has included strength and rehabilitation coaching with AFL Victoria umpires, working with multiple AFL clubs as a sports trainer, strength and conditioning with the Melbourne Boomers, pre-game activation support for the Melbourne Vixens, and working with athletes across rugby league, baseball, soccer, CrossFit ,powerlifting, strongman and other sports.

Those environments reinforced a principle that still guides my work:

The goal determines the outcome.

Feeling better isn't always the finish line.

Whether your goal is returning to everyday activity, getting back under a barbell or competing at the highest level, your body ultimately needs to develop the capacity for the task ahead.

When you come to see me, I want to understand you.

Your diagnosis matters. Your scans matter. Your history matters.

But they don't define you or tell me everything about what you're capable of.

I want to hear your story, understand what you've been through and know what you want to get back to.

Then we assess what's in front of us and determine what is relevant to you.

Treat the person, not the label.

Everything starts with understanding where you are, where you want to go, and what we need to build to get you there.
